What this map covers
This product uses the reviewed historic-map view of Bath shown in the listing imagery.
About this map
This artwork is cropped from Sheet 28 · Bath & Bristol, 1904, focusing the original cartography around Bath rather than reproducing the complete historic sheet.
It is a scale particularly suited to following roads and railways between places while still reading coast, rivers, uplands, and the broader shape of the landscape. Its 1:126,720 scale, two miles to the inch, sits between detailed local survey mapping and much smaller national maps.
Road information and coloured relief were deliberately prominent, giving these maps a clearer travelling-map character than denser large-scale survey sheets. Complete coverage of Great Britain was achieved by 1903, and the series became closely associated with touring and cycling in the early twentieth century. This particular source was published in 1904.
