Perth and its wider landscape shown in Bartholomew's distinctive Half-Inch mapping, reproduced as a mug.

What this map covers

The mapped area around Perth includes Scone.

About this map

This artwork is cropped from Sheet 12 · Central Perthshire, 1903, focusing the original cartography around Perth rather than reproducing the complete historic sheet.

Two miles are represented by one inch on the map, giving enough reach for a journey or region while keeping individual towns and routes legible. It is a scale particularly suited to following roads and railways between places while still reading coast, rivers, uplands, and the broader shape of the landscape.

Bartholomew drew on more detailed Ordnance Survey material, selecting and supplementing information for its own cartographic purpose; complete Half-Inch coverage of Great Britain was achieved in 1903. Road information and coloured relief were deliberately prominent, giving these maps a clearer travelling-map character than denser large-scale survey sheets. This particular source was published in 1903.
